One of the loveliest Brown County Art Gallery traditions is the annual Victorian Tea, a fundraiser for the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation. For almost two decades, mothers and daughters, girlfriends and sisters, and all who appreciate an April afternoon of beautiful flowers, delicate tea service, and wonderful food, all surrounded by beautiful art work, have gathered for this event.
The Gallery owns a large collection of antique tea cups and tea pots which are set on gorgeous tables decorated by volunteers who are specialists in tea service and are every bit as creative as any artist. Just walking into the Gallery after a long cold winter brings joy to all who come.
In addition to multi courses of food delights, there is art and custom jewelry for sale, door prizes and a raffle, along with a special program.
The 2012 tea will be held on Sunday, April 1st. The program takes place on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and will be presented by Debi Owens.
She tells the story through the eyes of survivor Molly Brown, complete with appropriate costume.
Paid reservations are required and must be made in advance. The cost is $25.00 per person and $17.00 for children under ten.
Reservations can be made online or by calling the Gallery at 812-988-4609.
