2013 Annual Victorian Tea

Sunday, April 14, 2013.

Doors open at 1 pm.

Tea service and program 2 - 4 pm.

One of the loveliest Brown County Art Gallery traditions is the annual Victorian Tea, a fundraiser for the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation.

For almost two decades, mothers and daughters, girlfriends and sisters, and all who appreciate an April afternoon of beautiful flowers, delicate tea service, and wonderful food, all surrounded by beautiful art work, have gathered for this event. The Gallery owns a large collection of antique tea cups and tea pots which are set on gorgeous tables decorated by volunteers who are specialists in tea service and are every bit as creative as any artist. Just walking into the Gallery after a long cold winter brings joy to all who come.

The 2013 Annual Victorian Tea is pleased to feature the ever popular and entertaining Chef Wendell Fowler as the guest speaker. Chef Wendell is a well known food philosopher, CBS TV Host ("Eat Right Now with Chef Wendell" segment on WISH TV 8), award winning, syndicated food columnist, cookbook author, and entertainer. He will be sharing his tips and knowledge on nutrition and healthy eating using fresh, local foods.

Chef Wendell will be bringing a number of his popular cookbooks available for purchase...please, call the Gallery to make reservations for this popular event.

We hope that you will join us for an elegant afternoon among the fine art at The Historic Brown County Art Gallery. Relax and enjoy finger sandwiches, scones, Devonshire cream and decadent desserts catered by Step Back in Time of Edinburg, IN, teas donated by The Candy Emporium of Nashville, IN, guest speaker Chef Wendell, tea-inspired door prizes, unique raffle items, local jewelry/craft vendors, music, and friends. At each place setting , guests are treated to a special favor. Male and female guests, young and old are encouraged to wear Victorian period hats and costume, of course, but is not required. This is a tea to be savored, remembered and repeated!

The tea is organized and put on solely by volunteers. We always welcome those who would like to participate in the planning, decorating and serving. It is a fun event not only to attend, but to take part in. All proceeds benefit The Historic Brown County Art Gallery Foundation. Please call the gallery at 812-988-4609 or Cheryl Eyed (Tea Chair) at 812-988-2359 to volunteer your time.
