Indiana Heritage Arts Annual Exhibition and Sale Underway.
June 11-25th, Brown County Art Gallery, One Artist Drive, Nashville, IN.
This year, the show was juried and prizes selected by Judge Kathryn Stats of Salt Lake City, Utah. Judge Stats selected a painting by C.W. Mundy as the IHA Gold Prize Winner, an Impressionist oil called "Creek Near Story." Mundy is from Indianapolis and is considered one of the top artists in the nation. The Silver Prize went to another Indianapolis artist, Victoria Gillieron for her painting entitled "Freckles" while the Bronze Prize went to Spencer artist, Ken Bucklew for his painting, "Old Dam on the Wabash." Fort Wayne artist Fred Doloresco's entry "Painting the Cosmos" was selected for purchase by the IHA Board of Directors to be added to the IHA Permanent Collection. The four IHA Awards of Excellence include a mother and daughter from Indianapolis who each entered their work. Mom Libby Whipple won for her painting entitled "The Why" while daughter Katie won for her stillife called "Afternoon Tea". Thomas Himsel of Brownsburg won for his painting "Squatter's Rights" and Todd Reifers of Indianapolis won for "T.C. Steele" House. The exhibit runs through June 25 and there is no admission charge. Hours are 10am to 5pm daily and noon to 5 pm on Sunday.
