Indiana Printmakers Get Their Due
Due to popular demand, the exhibit has been extended through Memorial Day Weekend.
A rare exhibit of the Brown County Art Gallery’s entire early Indiana print collection featuring etchings by L.O. Griffith, Kenneth Reeve, Will Vawter and more will open this spring. The collection was recently reframed to museum standards with a generous grant from the Indiana Historical Society.
In addition, current printmakers from 3 major print organizations will be exhibiting and selling their work. At least 30 printmakers from across Indiana are expected to participate. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation
The Indiana Historical Society also funded the conservation and framing of 18 rare sketches by Will Vawter that were used as illustrations for the James Whitcomb Riley poetry books. The sketches along with original illustrations and a collection of Vawter paintings will be exhibited as well. The sketches feature people from Brown County in everyday situations.
The exhibit will be open to the public through May 28.
