23rd annual Victorian Tea
Thoroughly Modern Addie – Women and the Vote | Sunday, April 9
Greet Addie as she returns from a suffrage meeting in the year 1907. Imagine a new century bursting with energy, where the future seems limitless. Women are divided on the right to vote. A young, energetic President, Theodore Roosevelt, is in office. Automobiles are still a luxury item for the rich. Postcards, nickelodeons and cycling are all the rage, and everyone watches the mail for the new Sears, Roebuck catalog. Fashion brings more comfort and larger hats. Good etiquette and proper social usage is expected and practiced. Debra Slone, from our popular apron history program, returns as Addie.
