Home of Indiana Heritage Arts
A generous donation from the George and Peggy Rapp family provided a space to exhibit prizewinning artists who compete in the Indiana Heritage Arts Annual Exhibition and Sale. IHA was founded in 1978 and stages one of the largest heritage style art competitions in the Midwest for artists with a tie to Indiana. The exhibit is held each June at the Brown County Art Gallery.
Some 200 artists enter over 400 paintings in hopes of being juried into the show. A judge narrows the field to around 130 paintings and chooses the winners, who will receive nearly $30,000 in prize money. The show runs for three weeks and the works are for sale. Another perk for being chosen for the show is the chance to exhibit in the Rapp Gallery for the next year.
