Brown County Indiana Art Gallery Artist Association's Guest Artist

Guest Artist

Fred Doloresco is one of Indiana's most prominent painters. An impressionist, his fluid style and generous paint application result in works that have a refreshing spontaneity reminiscent of Edward Potthast and other past masters. Fred produces not only urban scenes but landscapes and figurative works as well. He received a BA from St. Louis University and studied with Don Stone, Dan Gerhartz, and Rose Frantzen. He has won many national awards and is represented in numerous collections, including that of the Sanctuary, Kiawah Island, SC.

''Representing the quality of light in reflecting the beauty of God's gifts to us drives my painting. This I strive to express in landscapes and figurative work including scenes of intimacy, celebration and the dignity of work. Works by late 19th and early 20th century Naturalists and Impressionists such as Sorolla, Sargent, Zorn, Dagnan-Bouveret, the Cornwall group, Fechin and Benson stir an insuppressible 'Aaahhh!' in me. I hope that what others see in my work in some small measure elicits a similar glimpse of previously overlooked beauty in our daily lives.'' Fred Doloresco
