15th annual Victorian Tea

A sure sign of spring was spotted in Nashville on Sunday, April 5th at the Brown County Art Gallery. Ladies in big hats entered the main hall which had been transformed into a lovely tea room by gallery foundation volunteers. The annual tea which features a luncheon, tea, music and a special program is one of the Foundation’s largest fundraisers and a favorite girl’s getaway. This year marked the 15th annual tea which began at the home of gallery members and expanded to the gallery.

Food was catered by Middleway Foodworks of Bloomington, a non-profit group that supports the Middleway House Domestic Violence Shelter. Music was performed by Joyce Peek and a special decorators presentation was given by Imagine Designs of Nashville.

Table sponsor Vision Ventures Video Productions of Indianapolis donated table tickets to reward 10 community volunteers including Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity. The tea is always interested in table sponsors. Information on the sponsoring a table or attending the event can be obtained by calling the gallery at 988-4609

This was our 15th annual Victorian Tea. Take a look at some of our "Original Gallery Gals" at this years' event, June Bryan, Betty Abbett and Joan Knight.

This painting was given at the 2009 Tea.

Foundation Services and Membership

The foundation’s major fundraisers include Collector’s Showcase, a “one night only” chance to see the work of the early artists that are loaned to us from private collections. The showcase takes place each October and is an amazing night of fine food, wine, and great art work .Our Victorian Tea is a lovely event that takes place in April. Each year there is a different theme along with delicious food and fragrant teas. Both of these events are crucial to helping us achieve our mission of preserving and fostering our legacy.

But one of our most important sources of income is from patron members. You will receive a quarterly newsletter, a chance to exhibit your art work in our patron show and invitations to our special events. We are dependent on our patrons to keep the doors open.

Please consider joining.
